We are looking for a Costume Production Supervisor to join the National Theatre Costume Team.

 

The purpose of the role

The primary focus of this role will be to oversee the workflow of the Textile Studio and Costume props areas and their connection to the wider costume departments as well as support the general smooth running of the multiple processes within the costume production areas.

The Costume Production Supervisor role will cover a broad range of activities and input within the Textile Studio and Costume prop areas: overseeing the staffing, working processes, timelines and equipment use within their areas of responsibility. They will be required to communicate clearly with our freelancers and NT colleagues around the creative needs, expectations, and possibilities for their departments. This role will work alongside the Costume Workroom Supervisor (managing the teams and the workflow within the costume workroom) and the in-house show Costume Supervisor ( supervising in-house shows and supporting the in-house buying team) and will work closely with the he Head of Costume Props and Head Textile artist as well as all Costume supervisors and their assistants working to make sure the department is clear on both short- and long-term goals for the show making.

 

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Demonstrable experience of working at a Costume leadership level
  • Strong IT skills needed to maintain the information flow within the department and to create excellent records using the NT’s established systems.
  • A good understanding of theatre craft skills and how they fit within the costume production process
  • A good understanding of the Theatre Green Book and a strong desire to be at the forefront of sustainable practice and innovation within the industry
  • Wide experience of Costume supervision within the professional Costume industry.
