Senior Sound & Video Technician (Video Specialism) - Grade 3B

We are looking for a Senior Sound & Video Technician (Video Specialism) - Grade 3B. 

The Senior Sound & Video Technician – Video Specialism (BECTU Grade 3B) is a hands-on, operational role working directly on performances, based within the NT Sound & Video department. 

You will play a key role in the production process undertaking roles such as video programmer, production video engineer and support technician; providing specialist technical services to a consistent and high standard. 

Working with and without supervision, supervising and mentoring other technicians. Providing support for Sound & Video Technicians (3A). Initiating, planning, and taking responsibility for projects and activities within Sound & Video Department operations. Delivering informal training and passing on skills. 

Whilst this role focuses primarily on the delivery of video, there will be occasions where the successful candidate will be required to undertake sound duties with appropriate support from colleagues. 

The successful candidate will have the following:      

Previous experience as a video technician within a theatre or other live performance environment. 

Previous experience installing, programming, operating, and supporting complex video systems. 

Experience of the programming and operation of media servers, signal distribution systems and playback software (Disguise, Notch, Qlab, Mediornet) 

Experience working with projectors from various manufacturers including correct lens specification, unit control and operation. 

A basic understanding of theatre sound systems and equipment. 

A good understanding of technical developments within the audio/video industry with a view to the practical application of new equipment to a live performance environment.
