The Finance Department is responsible for the National Theatres accounting, finance and budgeting requirements, including the recording and monitoring of income and expenditure, maintenance of adequate financial controls, preparation of budgets, internal and external financial reporting and compliance with tax and other regulations. The work of the department is varied and includes giving professional financial guidance to other departments; processing payments for set and costumes; ensuring actors and management staff are paid; processing takings from the trading outlets; and producing statutory accounts to be filed with Companies House.
We are currently looking for someone to manage the day-to-day operation of various finance functions within the Finance Department, to supervise the monthly close process, to manage workflow to ensure deadlines are met and that financial information is processed in a timely and accurate manner, taking a lead on all aspects of the department’s work, providing technical advice and support to the team and to internal clients as a senior member of finance team, and to support the Financial Controller and Deputy Finance Director in their roles.
You will have excellent technical accounting skills, including a thorough grasp of the concept of double entry, profit and loss statements and balance sheets, including accounting for accruals, prepayments and accrued and deferred income and the ability to confidently challenge the status quo and problem solve, suggesting and demonstrating new innovative ways of working to the team where appropriate; follow improvements from conception through to completion.
