Alongside the studio manager, the design director is the second-most senior member of the Graphic Design Studio team working under the direction of the Creative Director.
Whilst the Creative Director sets the vision for the studio, the Design Director sets the design example.
The role comprises of three core purposes:
—to create, and execute the roll-out of, design ideas and assets for any brand or campaign purpose across the organisation
—to nurture the personal, technical and creative development of those team members line-managed by the role
—to oversee, direct and approve the work of design projects created by other (more junior) members of the team as requested by the Creative Director
This role is for anyone who enjoys and excels at designing and directing. It means ‘directing through doing’ – inspiring those working under direction through an evidently ‘hands-on’ approach.
The position would suit a seasoned Senior Creative with some management skills ready and eager to step-up to a director level or a current Design Director looking for an opportunity to expand their creative opportunities.
