The role of the Archive Department is to preserve the intellectual and organisational integrity of National Theatre records.
The Assistant Archivist (cataloguing) works with the Head of Archive to ensure that full and accurate records of National Theatre functions and activities are created, that they are maintained and managed for as long as they are required to support business needs, legal and other accountabilities, and that their final disposition takes place in a planned and consistent manner.
The Archive is located in the National Theatre Studio. The Assistant Archivist (cataloguing) is part of a small team providing services to both NT staff and the public, as such this demanding role requiring excellent organisation skills and attention to detail.

The post holder will work to improve records on CALM, catalogue collections and continue to upload catalogue data to Archives Hub. The Assistant Archivist (cataloguing) will assist the Archive Assistant with enquiries and invigilating the research room.
Candidates should hold an information, archive or records management or related degree or equivalent qualification or experience. They should have some experience of working in an archive and preferably of cataloguing to international standards. An aptitude for communicating and influencing across all levels of the Theatre, and amongst a diverse workforce is also required.
