We are looking for a Facilities Building Services Operative to join our Facilities Department at the National Theatre.

 

The National Theatre estate is made up of two listed buildings containing offices and auditoria, one Grade II* and one Grade II, and a props and costumes store.

The Estates Team at the National Theatre is made up of six departments: Facilities, Support Services, Major Projects, Safety, Security and Building Design and Environmental Sustainability. The Estates Team is responsible for the running and upkeep, safety and security, longevity and innovation of these buildings, using a range of in-house and outsourced services.

 

The Facilities Department:

The Facilities department is aiming to achieve a multi-skilled shift team operating across all trades. On that basis electrically qualified Engineers will be expected to assist Mechanical Engineers and Fabric Technicians to carry out mechanical and fabric works (and vice versa).

 

The Facilities Team:

The National Theatre is looking for a Facilities Building Services Operative to join our Facilities Team to maintain our exciting range of innovative and complex plant, machinery and building fabric. We need your creative ideas to continue our commitment to reducing our production of CO2.

 

Our Facilities Team act as ambassadors for the department throughout the organisation, their unique roles and ability to access all areas sees them engage with staff, company and visitors making them an active presence within the community of the theatre.

 

The purpose of the role is as follows:

 

*        Contribute to efficient delivery of all facilities services to the NT, through maintenance, reactive and cleaning task completion.

*        Support to Facilities and NT management.

*        Contribution to site statutory compliance.

*        Work within site safe system of work, contribute to continuous improvement and quality assurance.

*        Focus on auditorium maintenance and standards.

 

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Experience in a maintenance environment with plumbing, carpentry and fabric.
  • High levels of adaptability; quick to embrace new ideas, logical in addressing technical or customer related issues.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Diverse and flexible multi-skilled worker with strong customer service focus.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on their own initiative, without supervision.
