We are looking for a Stage Technician (Grade 5) to join the National Theatre Stages Team on a 22 month fixed term contract.

This role is for those who are in the early years of their career and are looking to develop their skills in the field of stage craft, we are open to applicants who are graduates, completed an apprenticeship or have already worked in theatre through another route. Applicants should have a reasonable level of technical ability as they will be expected to work alongside the NT’s permanent in-house teams on a day-to-day basis, producing and running shows to National Theatre standards. By the end of the contract applicant should have gained enough skill and experience to confidently apply for full time stage technician roles.

The successful candidate will have the following: 

  • Previous experience in professional theatre
  • Basic stage craft skills such as running show plots and stage carpentry
  • A practical working knowledge of current Health & Safety on stage
  • A basic awareness of rigging equipment and theatrical flying techniques
  • The ability to work at height using access equipment
