We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Finance Administrator to join the National Theatre Finance Team on a 24 Month Fixed Term Contract.

 

What is a Finance Administrator?

A finance administrator is responsible for the day-to-day tasks in a finance department, for example, ensuring that the organisation has recorded all financial transactions accurately for their monthly and annual reporting, and tax obligations. Preparing balance sheet reconciliations, entering data into the system and updating financial records. You will be involved in transactions that span the whole operations of the National Theatre, from Box Office sales to donations and outreach programmes, as well as our onsite restaurants and bookshop.

Purpose of the Apprenticeship

Working within the Central Finance Team, and the wider Finance team, you will gain valuable experience in delivering finance administrative support in a timely to the team and to our colleagues, while studying towards AAT Level 3.

As a Finance Administrator, you will assist the team in making sure that our financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner. You’ll be supporting the wider team, but also supported by senior colleagues to provide exposure to a wide range of finance tasks that will support your studies and career development.

You will attend and complete relevant apprenticeship learning activities, and other integral training. As well as working closely with experienced professionals who are dedicated to mentoring and guiding you throughout your apprenticeship.

What you will learn during the Apprenticeship:

The apprenticeship will be split between the National Theatre and Capital City College Group

At Capital City College you will:

*         You will study for an Assistant Accountant Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard, including AAT Level 3

*         Time at College will be 1 day a week at the Tottenham campus

*         You will also be required to produce a portfolio as part of your course, staff at the NT will support you with this

At the NT you will:

*         Assist in the Sales invoice process, monthly debtor reporting, credit Control, and credit checking new customers.

*         Assist with the processing of purchase invoices, monthly creditor reporting and supplier statement reconciliation.

*         Dealing with account queries for both customers and suppliers.

*         Prepare bank postings, assist with company credit cards, manage staff cash expenses.

*         Provide system support for the finance systems to the Finance team and wider organisation.

*         Provide assistance during the year-end audit with ad-hoc reporting tasks and collating audit samples.

*         Provide other administrative support as required, such as post management and filing duties.

At all times you will be expected to:

*         Take responsibility for being on time and always working safely and considerately.

*         Take responsibility for completing your college work and making sure your manager knows when a college assessor is meeting you.

*         Behave professionally, including keeping workspaces neat and tidy and treating all staff and colleagues with respect.

 

This is a Level 3 apprenticeship, therefore applicants must be suitable for study at that level and NOT hold a degree, HND, or a post graduate qualification, or have experience of working in administration in a professional theatre.
