We are looking for a Construction Workshop Assistant & CNC Operator to join the National Theatre Production and Technical Team.

The purpose of this role is to carry out a wide range of tasks to aid and support the Carpentry and Metal workshops in producing scenery of the highest standard possible. Also, to operate the CNC machine, running programmes to deliver components to the Carpentry workshop. And to maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment; to assist in the management of stock; and to assist in the maintenance of workshop tools and machinery.

 

The successful candidate will have the following: 

  • Substantial experience of running programmes on a CNC machine, and a strong knowledge and understanding of CNC machine operations
  • A good understanding of health & safety in a workshop environment
  • An awareness and understanding of the Theatre Green Book, sustainability, and the impact within theatre production
  • The ability to lift and carry recognised loads safely and know when and how to use fork-lift trucks and other manual handling equipment
  • Experience of working in theatre and/or a busy workshop environment
