We are looking for a Construction Workshop Manager to join the National Theatre Workshop Team.

We are currently seeking a Construction Workshop Manager to work within the National Theatre’s Construction departments to ensure smooth, efficient and safe running of the Carpentry and Metal workshops on a day-to-day basis. They will also manage the entry level roles in the two workshops, providing support and guidance.

 

The successful candidate will be an experienced leader with solid understanding of running a workshop(s). They will focus on the health and safety requirements that comes with that and will work alongside the Scenic Heads of Department to deliver scenery on time and on budget.

 

The successful candidate will have the following: 

  • Significant experience of managing or supervising a busy scenic workshop(s) with excellent leadership skills and an ability to prioritise multiple jobs.

  • Extensive knowledge and strong technical ability as a scenic carpenter or metal fabricator, with experience of workshop environments and onstage during fit ups, technical rehearsals and previews.

  • A comprehensive understanding of scenery construction, its materials, methods and techniques, and knowledge of workshop tools/machinery, and maintenance of them.

  • A thorough understanding of health & safety in a busy workshop environment and onstage and implementing policies and procedures.

  • A knowledge and commitment to sustainability, practicing the ethos of the Theatre Green Book, and working towards a circular economy.
