The National Theatre is looking for a Director of Learning to join the Learning department
The National Theatre has at the core of its mission, a dedication and commitment to inspiring the next generation of young people, serving local communities, and firing skills for the creative industries and beyond. The National Theatre’s north star goal is to have a global audience of 30 million engaging with our work by 2035, and for every child in the UK to experience the National Theatre before they leave school.
The Director of Learning will play a central role in the delivery of these plans both as a senior colleague with a cross-organisational perspective, and as the lead of our Learning department delivering our objective to inspire creativity and boost skills.
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Comprehensive understanding of the theatre and creative industries, particularly in education and community engagement.
- In-depth knowledge of education and youth policy and the UK’s education system, including experience working with schools, teachers, and young people.
- Experience in working with national and regional policymakers and contributing to advocacy efforts for arts and culture
- Experience of developing digital programmes or digitally delivered activity in an education context
- Proven experience of developing long-term strategic plans, with skills to lead, collaborate and implement change
- An inclusive and collegiate leadership style, with experience overseeing operations, budgets, and resources for a large team or department
