We are looking for a Prop Maker Grade 3 to join the Technical & Production Department on a 12 month fixed contract.
The purpose of the Technical & Production Department is to create and run performances to the highest standards through a partnership with creative teams, achieving their artistic ideas within the agreed amounts of time and money available to each production.
This role is a 12-month fixed period contract. Its aim is, each year, to offer a starting position to those entering the profession from further education or who have gained equivalent experience. It is an opportunity to obtain valuable experience working in a high-quality making environment that will equip them well for an onward career beyond the end of their time at the National Theatre. They will work alongside the NT’s professional prop making team, assisting in all aspects of the production of props for the National Theatre’s productions.
The successful candidate will have the following:
- College level or equivalent experience and knowledge of the craft, skills, techniques, materials and finishes required to produce props for theatre, with working understanding of the design process.
- An understanding and awareness of the Theatre Green Book and sustainability in general.
- An ability to work under minimum supervision and to work as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A keen interest in theatre, opera or ballet/dance.
