We are looking for a Head of Schools Engagement to join the National Theatre Learning team.

 

The National Theatre is looking for an outstanding leader to head up the newly-formed Schools Engagement Team.  You’ll be fluent in education policy, have a detailed understanding of the UK education landscape, and a proven passion for ensuring that all children and young people can access high quality theatre experiences.  This is a brand new role for an ambitious and strategic thinker who will enable their team to support students, teachers and education leaders to make the most of the unique resources, networks and repertoire of the National Theatre.

 

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Demonstrable commitment to addressing geographic and demographic inequalities in schools and colleges’ access to the arts, improving representation in theatre, and to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Thorough understanding and working knowledge of English and wider UK primary, secondary and FE education systems, qualifications and alternative provision, with experience of working with schools
  • Thorough and up to date knowledge of education policy, particularly in relation to creative subjects and art.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant areas of the curriculum from Primary to FE, including secondary English and Drama curriculums
  • Wide-ranging knowledge of contemporary theatre practice and performance, including work for young people & new writing
  • Effective and supportive leadership of teams
  • Strong experience of working with education sector partners, including schools, school leadership, and the wider education sector
