We are looking for a Press Officer to join the National Theatre Productions Team.

 

The purpose of the role

 

As part of the NTP team, this position will play a key role in developing and executing press campaigns for tours and transfers of productions originating at the National Theatre. The post holder will work with the Head of Press & Communications (NTP) on shows touring UK and Ireland, to London’s West End, to Broadway and further afield.

 

Productions will include (but will not be limited to) the global phenomenon, War Horse, which is soon to embark on a large-scale UK and Ireland tour*,* The Lehman Trilogy which returns to the West End following successful international dates and, Dear England, the recent Olivier Award winning, ‘Best New Play’.

 

The post-holder will also contribute to department-wide initiatives including audience development and the making of digital content for social media.

The role involves working closely with other NT colleagues such as the wider Press Team, the Marketing, Digital and Broadcast departments, Access, Development and Publications as well as Producers and Production Creative teams. The role requires regular close working with external consultants, suppliers, stakeholders and marketing and press teams across venues in our touring network.

 

The successful candidate will have the following: 

  • Experience in theatre publicity dealing with a range of local, national and international journalists and a genuine interest in press relations.
  • Experience of working in a busy work environment with touring experience and/or co-producing partnerships
  • The ability to deal confidently, courteously and discreetly with all levels of the media, theatre personnel and the public (both in person, over the phone and on email) with experience of building successful relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Prior experience of creating and managing dynamic, wide reaching and inclusive press campaigns
  • Experience at working at press events e.g. Press Launches, Media Calls, Opening Nights and Media Calls
