We are looking for a Producer to join our National Theatre Producing team.

 

The Producing department is at the heart of the National Theatre. It oversees the delivery of a diverse programme of work in the three theatres, foyers, outside spaces and at co-producing partner theatres. At the heart of the process of making work, we collaborate closely with artists including directors, designers to help bring their creative ideas to life. Working closely with the New Work department we nurture projects through the development stage at the Studio to production on our stages.

The Producer is responsible for the coordination and management of various productions, projects and events at the National Theatre. In particular, this role will lead on scoping and delivery of non-commercial transfers and touring of productions as well as working on productions across the building. Whether a project, event or a production in one of the Main Houses or on tour, the Producer must always work to the National’s vision and objectives: producing high quality, ambitious and diverse work that aims to raise the company’s profile, developing audiences and maximising income on time and to budget.

The post holder will work closely with the Head of Producing, Director of Producing (responsible for Southbank productions) and the Managing Director & Producer of National Theatre Productions (our commercial department responsible for shows leaving the building to have a commercial future life) as well as departments across the building including: Planning, Production & Technical, Marketing, Press, Digital, Box Office, Front of House, Company & Stage Management, New Work and Legal.

 

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Professional experience of producing and/or general managing theatre.

  • Experience of contract negotiation, drafting and execution

  • Numeracy and budget management skills – including previous experience of managing budgets.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to deal confidently and positively with those at all levels both in person, via e-mail and on the phone.

  • Collaborative approach and ability to build and sustain relationships with different stakeholders and partners.
