We are looking for a Scenic Workshop Assistant to join the National Theatre Workshop Team.

The Workshop Assistant is key to supporting the Scenic Art team and will be involved in keeping the space safe and tidy, managing deliveries, preparing cloths and assisting with finishes of some scenic elements. They will be required to carry out a range of tasks to aid and support the Scenic Artists in producing work of the highest standard possible and to support the work across the workshops performing tasks as required by specific productions.

The successful candidate will have the following: 

  • An interest in and some experience of Scenic techniques and finishes.
  • Experience of working in a busy workshop environment and an interest in working in theatre.
  • An understanding of Health & Safety in a workshop and also onstage environment.
  • An awareness and commitment to sustainability, practising the ethos of the Theatre Green Book.
  • The ability to work on your own initiative under minimum supervision, with and as part of a team.
