We are looking for a Senior Sound and Video Technician (Sound Specialism) to join the National Theatre Sound and Video Team.

 

The purpose of the role

 

The Senior Sound & Video Technician (BECTU Grade 3B) is a hands-on, operational role working directly on performances, based within the NT Sound & Video department.

You will play a key role in the production process undertaking roles such as sound programmer/operator, radio mic supervision/running, support technician; providing specialist technical services to a consistent and high standard.

Working with and without supervision, supervising and mentoring other technicians. Providing support for Sound & Video Technicians (3A). Initiating, planning and taking responsibility for projects and activities within Sound & Video Department operations. Delivering informal training and passing on skills.

 

The successful candidate will have the following: 

  • Previous experience as a sound technician within a repertory theatre or other live performance environment.
  • Previous experience installing, programming, operating, and supporting complex digital audio systems, networks and equipment.
  • Significant experience of the programming and operation of digital sound consoles and playback software and/or significant experience of backstage sound craft including radio mic fitting/running and monitoring.
  • Experience supporting productions in development, rehearsal, and repertoire, contributing proactively to the creative development process.
  • A practical knowledge of relevant Health & Safety standards including but not limited to BS7909, BS7671, Noise at Work, LOLER and PUWER and risk assessment regulations.
