We are looking for a Special Projects Producer to join the National Theatre Producing Team on an 18-Month Fixed Term Contract.

The Special Projects Producer will be responsible for supporting and working alongside the Head of Producing – Special Projects in shaping and delivering a range of specific one off high calibre events that sit alongside shows and other planned activity both in and around the National Theatre and at times at specific off-site venues.

The role will work closely with departments across the building from Development to Production and Technical, Planning and Company Management, and will sit within the Producing Department, a team responsible for the successful delivery of all shows happening across the National Theatre’s three venues.

The role will work across a range of events, including delivering music gigs, talks, bespoke exhibitions, launches and other large scale one off events and programmes. One specific event that this role will be required to work on will be the National’s fundraising gala ‘Next Chapter’ that’s happening on 5 March 2026.

The Special Projects Producer will be responsible for managing and coordinating logistics for all artistic content performed in the Gala. This includes working closely with the performers and creative team to deliver their ambition for the night. ‘Next Chapter’ will take place in the Lyttelton Theatre, which for one night only will be transformed for a guestlist of 400 people, with the aim of raising 1.5million for the National Theatre.

The candidate will have excellent organisational and communication skills, be able to create schedules, contracts and budgets and work efficiently alongside other departments and freelancers to deliver high-end bespoke events and performances that best represent the values and vision of the National Theatre.

The successful candidate will have the following: 

  • Substantial experience in the theatre and/or events industry; and at management level
  • Experience of working closely with creatives and actors.
  • Highly organized with good time management skills and good attention to detail.
  • An enthusiastic and logical-thinking self-starter who is confident to take their initiative to secure results
  • A confident communicator who can build relationships with people at all levels
  • Ability to negotiate with a range of people, in collaborative manner
