We are looking for a Support Services Operative to join the National Theatre Support Services Team.

As an Operational Support Team Member, you will provide hands-on assistance across the National Theatre, supporting a wide range of teams to ensure smooth daily operations. You will carry out porterage duties, including moving equipment, furniture, and delivering parcels, and act as a first point of contact for couriers, external contractors, and staff entering the service yard.

You will take responsibility for the safe removal of waste and help advance the Theatre’s sustainability goals by collecting and recycling different waste streams.

A key part of the role is ensuring the building remains safe, presentable, and welcoming for all visitors and staff, and supporting other teams with practical tasks as required.

This is a physically active and varied role, requiring initiative, strong organisation, and excellent communication skills. You will deliver professional, consistent, and welcoming customer service at all times, caring for our historic building and contributing to making the National Theatre better every day.

The successful candidate will have the following: 

  • Enthusiastic and motivated, taking pride in doing a good job and supporting others to do the same.
  • Able to apply health and safety requirements in a workplace and follow safe systems of work.
  • Confident using IT systems, including email, reporting tools, and basic databases or tracking systems.
  • Delivers a friendly, professional, and helpful service to all staff, contractors, and visitors.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently to all stakeholders, both individually and to large groups.
