We are looking for a Workshops Assistant to join the National Theatre Props Department Team.

 

The purpose of the role

The purpose of the Production and Technical Department is to create and run performances to the highest standards through a partnership with creative teams, which achieves their artistic vision within the agreed schedules and budgets. The Workshop Department is made up of the Carpentry, Metal, Scenic Art, Props, and Armoury departments and has approximately 40 permanent staff, although this can increase with fixed term contract and casual staff in busy periods.

 

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Experience of working in theatre and/or a busy workshop environment.
  • Experience of using basic power tools, hand tools and workshop machinery (training will be provided where appropriate).
  • A flexible approach to work and the ability to respond to changes in routine/work instantly and with speed.
  • A good understanding of health & safety in a workshop environment.
  • Good clear communication skills, including the ability to understand and respond to instructions and briefings.
