We are looking for two Lighting Assistants for the War Horse UK Tour on a 4 month Fixed Term Contract.
The National Theatre’s acclaimed production returns in an all-new UK tour. War Horse is an unforgettable theatrical experience which takes audiences on an extraordinary journey from the fields of rural Devon to the trenches of First World War France. Based on the beloved novel by Michael Morpurgo, this powerfully moving and imaginative drama, filled with stirring music and songs, is a show of phenomenal inventiveness. At its heart are astonishing life-sized horses by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, who bring breathing, galloping, charging horses to thrilling life on stage.
Starting on 7th July 2025 in Birmingham until 9th November 2025. Some handover will be required during the run in Bristol (June). Calls will be confirmed closer to the time and these calls will be paid the salary pro-rata for any hours worked. Fixed term contract dates are dependent on production and production schedule (dates subject to change and subject to the Producer’s right to give not less than two weeks’ notice of closure of the Production).

- Tech 8th/9th July 2025 (Birmingham, Alexandra)
- First performance 10th July 2025 (Birmingham, Alexandra)
- Final performance 8th November 2025 (Norwich, Theatre Royal)
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Experience of follow spotting is essential.
- Operational Lighting experience and excellent technical skills.
- Experience with remote follow-spotting tools like Macula.
- A desire to learn and develop skills in lighting and video.
- To be able to work calmly under pressure and clearly demonstrate an empathy with the pressures of the backstage performance environment.
