We are looking for Scenic Carpenters to join the National Theatre Workshop Team on both Fixed Term and Casual Contracts.

 

The purpose of the role

 

To manufacture, modify and repair scenery in accordance with the requirements of the creative team, using a wide range of materials and tools and techniques.

Work is normally carried out in the carpentry workshop and on the stages but may be required elsewhere in the National Theatre or at designated outside venues.

 

The successful candidates will have the following: 

  • Significant and varied professional experience of scenic construction with knowledge and good technical ability in appropriate woodworking and joinery skills
  • Substantial experience of working onstage on fit ups and during technical rehearsals and previews
  • A thorough understanding of scenery construction, its materials, methods and techniques
  • A strong understanding of health & safety in a busy workshop environment and onstage
  • A knowledge and commitment to sustainability, practicing the ethos of the Theatre Green Book
