We are looking for a Dresser to join our Running Wardrobe Department.
Running Wardrobe holds a vital role within Technical and Production, providing support of the highest standard for the NT’s varied repertoire. The department is a busy team of around 11 experienced staff including Wardrobe Supervisors and Dressers. In addition, we employ fixed term contract and casual employees. The varying styles of each new production provides new challenges and the Wardrobe team frequently need to re-address performance requirements and priorities. The department is located across various shared spaces within the NT building.
As part of the Running Wardrobe Team, the Dressers at the National Theatre provide the most effective dressing support for members of the acting company and assist in maintaining the standard of the Costume Designer’s specification throughout the run of a production.
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Experience of dressing for a busy professional theatre production.
- Basic sewing skills, capable of making emergency repairs.
- Experience of costume maintenance and laundry skills and setting up a dressing plot from the beginning of technical rehearsals.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable in accordance with performance requirements including attention to conducting quick changes and the knowledge required to achieve them.
- Experience of working in a large team
